need help with spreadsheet

not sure this is the right forum but can any one help me with this prob
i am trying to use the spead sheet on the 3a
and what i am trying to do is enter a time in 2 cells and get a result in the 3rd cell
Eg a1 b1 c1
a1 would be 08:00:00 b1 would be 09:00:00 and c1 would be b1-a1
which should be 01:00:00
but i cant seem to get it to work any help please

What result do you get? I can't remember all the options in the 3a Sheet app but do you have the cells formatted as time? I just tried this on both the 5mx and Excel and got the expected result of 1:00.

if i just put 08:00:00 get error illigalcharacter
if i put an ' before goes in ok but the result shows as ********

ps i got it to work in excel and lotus 123 but not on 3a

The ********* just means that the string is too long to display in the cell. Change the cell width to fit.

There is more info on time/date functions on the help screens.

ok if put =time(9,00,00) shows as 09:00 which is ok for the start time
finish time =time(10,10,20) shows as 10:10 no secs
time diff shows as 01:10 insted of 01:10:20
