I have two questions I was hoping to get help with.
I am considering purchasing the Clie t665c. I was wondering if I should hold off on this purchase in case sony releases the model with OS 5.0? Is this likely?
Also, I read somewhere that the MP3 player had some sort of copy protection built in to it. Is this true, and if so, what does it mean exactly?
Thanks for your help

I am not sure about the T665 coming in a OS5 version. Haven't even heard rumors yet.
As for the Audio player, it does not have the copyright protection. The copyright protection is in the white memory sticks. The puple memory sticks do not contain this either.
Hope this helps!

On the same topic, how much better is OS 5.0? Is it that much more powerful? Any significant advantages to it? Can you up-grade from 4.1 to 5.0?
Thanks again

the os5 is a little snappier as far as i've played around with them, and the oem icons on the screen are "prettier," but i'm not enthused that os5 is that much better for the t665 because it doesn't have all of the native bluetooth and whatnot built into it like the nx's and tungston do, not to mention other built in support.
as for the copy protection, i actually looked into this more than the first part so it's much less opinionated. if you want to use MP3 files, you have nothing to worry about. the audio player needs to have the mp3s on a memory stick in order for it to play, it's just how it is. there's another format out there that it'll support though called atrac3 that needs the magicgate protection. it promises all of the quality and more over mp3's, but personally the hassle to find them or convert them for the sole purpouse to make sure that no one steals my music off of my card is useless. if you look on the net about "atrac3" there are much better articles than this explination.
hope it helps
