PV Connection Grief

I have recently purchaes a 5MX and am having grief connecting it to my PC (Win 98 II).
I am using the cable and have done the port and remote link settings, installed the software on the PC etc and it won't connect.

Any ideas?

Thanks - I will also try connecting to another PC machine that is setup for PSION 5mx devices.
