Hi!

I've been Palm user for 3,5 years now. I wanted to upgrade to T5 this summer but found that for very similar price I can get x50v...
I have no experience with PocjetPCs so I'm afraid of the platform shift. I would use my new PDA for PIM, Memo, Document reading (mainly .doc and .pdf), music listening, time scheduling, e-mails. I also would like to install additional software but heard that Axims tend to be unstable when U install much software (with hard resets every few weeks...). I also heard that in everyday-use applications - like PIM, memo, quick notes, they are MUCH slower than Palms (which is very annoying for those who switched from Palm OS). Is that true?

In general I am very interested in opinions of people who switched from Palm (not only T5) to x50v.

ps. Yes, I have already read all older threads in this forum ;)

I moved from Tungsten T2 to Axim X50 Low after some years using Palms. I will not go back, period. The Windows operating system was an easy transition if you apply a little patience; ActiveSynch has been as reliable, for me, as HotSynch on the Palm side; the OS is stable (and in my opinion, particularly if you use reliable software; my only problems have been introduced when I used freeware). As to resets, I have used periodic soft resets, e.g., weekly, to clean up memory, a good maintenance idea). As to speed, I bought the slowest version (416Mhz) and experience NO loading or operating "waits." Quality of the Dell is outstanding. Hope this helps in your decision-making.

And here's a series of articles by Tanker Bob chronicled his experiences switching from T3 to X50v.
