IE setup on an IPAQ 3870

[Stumped]

I hope someone can answer this question:

When I cradle my IPAQ and get an activesync connection my IPAQ is given an IP address of:

192.168.55.101

I need to set a static IP address of my choice for this connection as my companies firewall setup only allows certain IP's access out to the internet.

How do I do this?

This IP is assigned to the ppp1 adapter (PPTP1 NDISWAN Adapter in Settings, Connections). This adapter is configured to request an IP address resulting in the following configuration:

IP: 192.168.55.101
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.55.100

pptp1 is set to request an IP address. If you manipulate the settings for this adapter you may be able to get the results you want.

I have tried changing the settings for PPTP1 NDISWAN Adapter from server assigned IP address to specific address.... this doesnt seem to have any impact on the IP address that is reported by 'vxutil' whatever I put in I still get a the 192.168 addresss.

Any other idea's?
