Hello,
Last Tuesday I noticed Act for the Palm OS was released.
That started a whole series of upgrades for me. It was too slow on my C3 (Vx). Tried the Clie 665 and was still not happy.
Finally the TT last Friday. Nicely done. I am happy with the speed. The screen is a big change for me too. I have to get used to the battery life compared to the C3 which I charged twice a month.
I set it up to turn on and prompt for a password on slider open. More than half the time there is no cursor to enter your password at the prompt. I reset and viola there it is.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

How do you like Act for Palm OS? For several years, I have been using Maximizer for my contact manager and PilotLink to sync contact data to my Palm. Act looks interesting and I've been considering giving it a try. What do you see as pros and cons?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

OB,
Thanks for replying....
I am pleased so far. According to the Act for Palm OS specs OS 5 as far as I know is not supported. There are a couple of reproduceable bugs that require a reboot. Other than that I am very happy.
I always wanted to take my ACT on the road. (no pun intended) I had Actlink and that was a big step. Version two of Actlink was just about getting there with more items syncing.
This program really brings the desktop to the TT. I can enter new contact information, notes, and appointments on the road instead of making notes and then entering them on the PC. I think it works nice. There are a couple of fields on my wish list but I can work around them for now.
I think I have my prompt problem solved. It really wasn't a problem at all I think I discovered tonight. If the cursor is not where it supposed to be just tap the screen and it moves there. Just realized it tonight when I was logging in and hit the screen where the prompt should have been accidently.
Until I can find something I really like I keep the TT in a zippered Coach wallet designed for the Palm V. Just to keep it protected for now. I didn't see much in the way of cases yet. What is everyone else doing? Also, I found that sometimes when I unzip the case to take out the TT I noticed that it was already on. It could have been on for hours as the batteries died a few minutes later. Is there a way to be sure it stays off?
I picked up a Belkin USB cable for charging and syncing. It says Palm 500 series compatible on the package and it does charge the TT. It doesn't sync though. I use BT for that anyway but it would have been a nice plus. The connection to the TT is not that great. You have to move it around to get the charging light to light. Any small movement could cause the cable to disconnect. If there was something by Palm I am certain it would be a solid connection. It also comes with a cigarette lighter adapter for when you are on the road and need juice. I think thats going to come in handy for me. What do you use when you are not in the cradle to charge the TT?
Have a happy Thanksgiving to everyone....!!!!

Don't be too sure that something by Palm would be better than your Belkin purchase.
I have the travel charger by Palm - I got it about a year ago for my M505.
There are two parts - a cable that connects the Palm to the USB for syncing & another cable that you plug into a wall outlet for charging the battery.
I have had exactly the problem that you described - the connection is not firm & you have to move the cord around to get the power light to go on. If the cord gets moved at all, the connection is broken. It is also a lot slower than the cradle for syncing or charging the battery.
I haven't tried it yet on my TT - I was hoping that it would work better than it did on the M505. I have two cradles now from the M505 & the TT, so I don't have as much need for the travel charger.
