Hello,
AntiVirus for Palm 2002 has a function on it called Auto Protect On. When this function box is checked, the device is automatically protected against the listed defintions. However on the Tungsten T palm OS 5, this function never stays on. If you check the box and then leave the application when you return the box is no longer checked. Any ideas or upgrades!!!

Why bother with the antivirus: i've never used antiviral software on a Palm and I have never had a virus. I think it's just an opportunity for symantec to cash in on the virus fear. I bet if we were to ask this group or any others how many have had a Palm virus the result would be none.

The first and only virus I've ever heard of on the Palm OS was the early releases of the Liberty Game Boy emulator. It introduced a trojan on the Palm that would cause certain problems.

in my recollection as a pda user for the past six years, the only virus was that liberty virus you mentioned. primarily because that application circulated along the hacker community as people downloaded more and more gameboy roms. i would say don't expect to see any new palm viruses since most palm users only download official shareware/freeware. i look at it like macs and pcs. yes there are viruses on macs, however, not much. there's no point for people to really write viruses for them.
however, with pdas getting more and more sophisticated in handling email attachments, there might potentially be an increase. but i still doubt that because pc virus are created to run specific instructions. those instructions don't mean much to a palm. although for a pocket pc that's not the case. i would be more terrified of viruses if i was running windows ce.
in the long run, save your money and don't get antivirus software. it really is a waste.
