I would like to use my Mako to check my Yahoo mail on a regular
basis, but have been having troubles. I am using Opera V3.62 and
connecting to my dial-up acount using an external USR 33.6 modem
connected to the docking station serial cable. I get into Yahoo OK,
and into Yahoo Mail, and can usually log in to my account, but whenever
I click on "Inbox" the same screen (the welcome screen for my account)
keeps refreshing over and over again, and I can almost never get
into my inbox. The one time I did get in, I had the same problem
trying to open one of the e-mails.
I have not tried many other sites, but this one seems to work normally.
In fact, I am posting this from my Mako.
Yahoo mail is my main objective and that is not working well.
Is this to be expected? Anything in my local settings that may
be causing this problem?
TIA,
Paul

There are instructions on my website for configuring Yahoo for use with the Psion "Email" application, though this was actually for the UK. Also, Yahoo have introduced the need for SMTP authentication so you will have to use your ISP's SMTP server to send mail, rather than Yahoo's.
I would echo Mike's suggestion - set up the Email application to work with your Yahoo account.
Some websites pages are not compatible with Opera's HTML layout engine - in your case it sounds as though some Javascript code is being called repeatedly. Another alternative (at cost) would be to upgrade to Opera 5.14, although a trial run is suggested to confirm that it works with the pages you mention.

Yahoo has added a yearly charge for allowing POP access to their email.
Try accessing mail via http://home.mobile.yahoo.com/ to see if that helps.

Thanks for the input.
home.mobile.yahoo.com works great!
It is stripped down to the basics, formatted to fit better, and very fast.
Does eBay have anything like this for mobile users?

I'm not sure about ebay. Perhaps you can ask them on their website - they have live support there.
That mobile Yahoo site is not well known but I think great for PDA users of all platforms.

I use the psion WAP browser when about (free O2 wap see) to access yahoo mail with no probs (a bit tedious method of viewing/deleting individual messages but ok)

e bay does not have (to the best of my knoledge) a stripped down version of thier site, but you can always set opera or "web" to not load pictures and then load the ones you need manually.

I uninstalled Opera 3.62 and downloaded and installed the trial version of Opera 5.14. I like the new version a little better, and it seems faster, but I can not search for items on eBay with either version. V3.62 always returns "Invalid Item" when I search for anything on eBay, and V5.14 always crashes when I search for an item on eBay. When it crashes I get a reason code "KERN-EXEC" and reason number "3". Both versions get into the eBay home page OK. Fault => eBay or Opera?

It's worth checking how much memory you have before trying to search, and obviously free up as much as you can by closing other apps if possible. I'd be interested to know if that makes a difference.

I checked memory usage. Less than 40% is used before starting Opera. Usage jumps to 66% with Opera opened to the eBay home page (all else off except System and StickyKeys). Still kills Opera and displays error when trying to search for item on eBay.
Is there any browsers besides Opera that will run on Symbian (Revo/Mako)?
Could not find anything on Netscape or MS web sites for Symbian.

Can I suggest you start a new thread for this web-browser topic? It's probably a little bit lost now under the Yahoo mail titling of this thread.
I would normally say to put it in the Internet issues forum, but I think this might be a bit Revo/Mako specific, so place it there, and we'll see what other users of the same machines have to say.
