Please can anyone help ?
After several months of not using my Psion 5 ( and flat batteries ) when the batteries were replaced the touch screen had stopped working. It still is displaying but none of the 'touch' functions operate.
Is there something simple to restore it or does it need to go to an engineer?
Thanks

Have you tried a soft reset....? If that doesn't work then a hard reset?
If you have then it sounds like the touch screen may have stopped working and a professional will have to take a look at it.

Yes, have tried both soft and hard reset but it didn't make any difference.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply :)

I think your screen cable has just started to die! :(

Try a very hard reset. Take out the back-up battery and AAs, then leave for a couple of hours before re-inserting the AAs.
If this was a revo I would also suggest a hard reset while connected to a power supply, but I don't think that applies to 5s.

The screen cable MAY be faulty. But it could also be a software problem. A hard reset will clear any software problem. So if it remains, then it is a hardware problem. But beware that screen cable problems can be intermittent.

If it is the cable that has given up the ghost, I can highly recommend www.psionflexi.co.uk
