We have a small office network and use Palm Desktop software for calendar and address book function.

Our problem is thus:
In the office everyone can access the Palm data files on a central server simultaneously.

However, several staff use notebooks and want to access the server data files when out of the office.

Unfortunately, the Palm Desktop software only allows one storage location for data files. Hence, even if the data files are copied onto the notebooks, and the notebook is detached from the network, the Palm software will not start up because it cannot access it's default storage location on the server.

My only idea for a workaround is to create a shortcut for opening Palm Desktop when not connected to the network, that does a registry edit that changes the data folder location to a local address. Then, the normal shortcut to Palm would change the registry back to the server location when connected to the network.

Does anyone have any experience with this dilemma?
