(since they appear to be abandoning us) ...and the Dell Axims seem like a good way to go. I'm most concerned about finding a database program that will let me build databases ,or sync with existing data on my laptop. I use MobileDB on my Palm - is there something comparable (or better) for Pocket PC?

Terrific! - that article was great as I'm using a T-3 and thinking about upgrading . The T-3 does the cradle hard reset every once in a while and shuts off for no apparent reason from time to time. and don't get me started on Palm tech support the times I neede to call them were less than stellar.
Well, we'll see...
Thanks!

I got it today. I like the layout and have figured out how to maneuver in windows pretty easily. It is more complicated than Palm OS, but not too bad, and I'll get used to it. I loaded the Wi-Fi Companion software but it doesn't recognize it. It says it is loading the CAB file, but it doesn't show up on the start menu. I'll play around more tommorrow. I also loaded the extensions to allow it to sync with my Time Chaos software, and it doesn't do that either. So, I like it a lot, but have not yet been able to get my most important (read necessary) features activated.
Also, the Bluetooth keyboard, the spare battery and presentation package were not in the box, but on the invoice. They said they would ship new ones. I did get a nice Rhino aluminum cxase taht I did not order - I told the guy at Dell, but he didn't ask me to return it...
More as I actually start to use it.... :(

Perhaps you are not installing applications correctly, take a look at this thread on how to install applications

It was an exe file so I assumed it would load itself. I looked for the cab file, but couldn't find it... I left it at work overnight to charge.
I'll be working on it this morning. I e-mailed tech support on the Wifi companion. - they might also have some ideas...

I had to get a new CAB file from the mfg (Wifi Companion) which installed appropriately.
MoblieDB does have a PPC version, but it does not automaticlly sync like the Palm version does. I figured out a work-around where I keep the file in the Windows transfer folder and it is automatically updated. I'm not sure I like the PPC version -= I'll give it some time. I also have to go in to settings and physically shut off the program from active memory (or soft reset) before I can start it a second time.
I am having a lot of trouble with Outlook. I am used to using a shareware program, called Time & Chaos which has been awesome (since 1992). The sync program designed to link PPC to T&C doesn't work. I'm hoping there will be an update soon. In the meantime, I HATE OUTLOOK!!!
The device is great - I'm just finding out what software to stick with and what else is out there - that's half the fun!!!
