I heard that AT&T GSM doesn't support mobile internet connection.
I have Ericsson T68 with AT&T GSM and CLIE NR70V, but I haven't managed to connect this to the internet.
I tried everything with the Infrared conncetion, but nothing worked.
I typed scripts like AT&FX4X3, AT*NC22, set the setting to "connect to PC" rather than "connect to modem" and typed up the whole login script.
I guess AT&T really doesn't support modem connection.

I just ordered Bluetooth Memory stick from Brando.com, and if this doesn't work either...... uggh.

I know that people have managed to connect to internet with T68 and T68i using Voicestream.

How about AT&T GSM?

If anyone managed to connect it, please tell me how.

Oh, and if you connect it, will it be charged to the GPRS or to the air-time minutes?
It's going to cost a fortune if I surf the web on GPRS network.

I don't know what market you're in so let me know if this works:

Set up a new network connection called ATT (Or whatever)
Leave the password and username fields blank (YES, BLANK)
The phone number to dial is *99# (Yes, with the Star and Pound Sign)

Now set up the connection. Call it ATT IR
Connect to "MODEM"
Via "INFRARED"
and under Details set the speed to 57,600 bps
Leave the "INIT STRING" blank. (YES, BLANK)

Now just line them up, click Connect from your Palm browser app or wherever and make this Connection the default for your apps to dial.

PS-
>>>Oh, and if you connect it, will it be charged to the GPRS or to the air-time minutes?

Answer: In my market (Las Vegas), you're charged data rates, so upgrade your data package to at least the 2 meg plan! No airtime is deducted though.

Thanks guys, but I was not able to connect it.

I'm using AT&T national network plan in Los Angeles, with Ericsson T68, and not T68i.
I tried to connect it with your script, but did not work.
Where did you get this number, *99#, from ?
It just replied with a message that the configuration is wrong.

Isn't 2mb service too small?
I was playing around with the mmode, and already used like 9mb.
It sucks that I didn't sign up for the GPRS plan.
AT&T's probably going to bill me like $20 for this month.

hmm, my bluetooth stick from brando hasn't arrived yet...

try *99*# in the phone entry box of the network connection. If this doesn't work reset the phone and try it again. Make sure the ir port is on from the settings menu. Try this link for details: http://www.palm.com/europe/mobile/gprs2.html

I have a T68 and AT&T service in Florida. This does work, and work well. I use a Clie t615c.

Have you installed the GSM Software from Palm?

These instructions worked fine for me.

Make sure IR enabled on phone.

Download and install the standard GSM driver from the palm website.

Create a new connection.
connect to: phone
Via: infrared

model:standard GSM

under details
speed: 19,200
Init String: E0V2+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";+CMGF=0

next create a new network setup using your att username and password and the new connection you just made using the phone number
*99#

I got the number from ATT tech support when I was just trying to connect my laptop with my T68. After I got my CLIE I tried the other ways, but it wouldn't connect me like I had with Sprint. So I figured it would probably work with the same *99# number and it does.

One thing though, there's NO init strings or username or password or anything else, it's actually pretty simple. Try it again and MAKE SURE your INFRARED port is "ON" on both your Clie and your T68.

If that doesn't work, just try and call ATT tech support and pretend you're trying to hook up a laptop, since they don't support Palm, only PocketPC.

BTW, I never downloaded the GSM for Palm, but it still works.

And yes, 2mb is pretty small, I use about 3mb per month and use Eudora's browser when I don't need all the graphics that get displayed with Blazer, but I only use it a couple of times a week with the Clie. Be careful- If you used 9mb, plan on paying anywhere from $10 to $30 per 1mb depending on your data package (if any)!

whoa, my computer crashed and it took a while to get my PC back to work again.

I couldn't connect my Clie to the internet at first, but once I entered some bogus username and password, I was able to connect it with your *99# number.

I don't know, but mine didn't work when I left the username and password blank as you said. It worked with any username or password, like:

username: hubba
password: bubba

or just simply one letter:

username: a
password: b

I'm not sure why it's like this.

Well, thanks for all the help! > everyone

By the way, I was trying to connect it to the internet using my current Dial-up ISP provider, but I'm still not sure how to get this to work.
Maybe my ISP provider don't provide GPRS communication (using APN number?) or something like that.

Also, does the DNS setting actually mean anything? When I connect it using *99# and configure my DNS setting to my current dial-up ISP provider's DNS number, it still connects to the internet with that DNS setting.

I don't know anything about how DNS works, or what it does to the internet connection, but I was just wondering what this meant.
