It sounds like the device may be going into storage mode. When the device comes back after the hard reset the Date and Time may be reset to Jan 1998. You can change this manually or sync to update. JimBobJoeRay 11-28-2002, 01:13 PM You're absolutely right. During the winter months, you will notice a few lucky users who seem to be more statically charged. They basically shock the device, and in an attempt to defend itself from damage, it goes into storage mode. You will likely notice this to be user specific, not BlackBerry specific. IE: if you change BlackBerries, the same user will have the same problem. Once the weather gets less dry this will stop happening. Some people seem to have success in switching to a leather holster, it seems to stop static a little better. Physical_Layer 11-28-2002, 01:52 PM Exactly - this is a static problem that pops up in the winter. It just happened to me last night for the first time this season. Last year when I didn't understand the problem (and I was flying more often) I would always be worried that they wouldn't let me through security in the Airport because I couldn't turn the thing on! Once I realized I could just use a paperclip to re-boot, I was all set. Trick: When you re-boot, the date gets reset and the radio is default off. IF you just turn the radio on, the emails will get filed as if they arrived on Jan 1, 1998. CHANGE THE DATE FIRST, then turn on your radio. Otherwise it's a pain to find your new emails. Also - this problem only started happening to me when I threw away my leather holder and started using the plastic holster (with swivel clip). Stick with leather in the winter. PDA Street
