Hi,

I tried to hook up my 76S via serial to Garmin Que 2.7 on my ipaq 2750 - so far that works out ok. I was able to create a mapset from MetroGuide and Topo and use it on the Que. Works fine. Great.

BUT now, I am unable to get the damn USB driver on the PC to work. I tried to install from the USB driver delivered with MapSource and from the 76CS download from Garmin.com (they appear to be the same). I always get the result that the USB driver can't be started (Code 10). Any idea what I need to do to get this resolved? I am logged in to WinXP pro SP2 with Admin rights.

Thanks for suggestions.

Best regards,
Holger

Coudl there be an output setting in the 76C which has been changed? Is there an option to change the output in the GPSr from USB to serial? If so, has it been returned to USB? Does serial to the PC work? Not what you want, but while you're struggling...
Is the 76C fully charged? I have lots of problems with USB access with an external harddrive when trying to connect it to some USB ports (USB1 and USB2).

BTW, once you get it working again you could test GPSgate and GPSproxy. If you let your 76C output NMEA, you could use Russa from gisrussa.com to look at your topo maps on the PDA. They look nice.

Edit: The problem reported has never shown up on these forums since they mainly deal with PDA only solutions. The people I know of who try (tried) putting various garmin GPS receivers in front of there PDAs are those in Malaysia/Singapore using their own gamin format maps. Now that they can use GPSproxy, I believe most went for SirfIII BT receivers. Anyhow, the forum is PDA Talk at www.malsingmaps.com
