Hi,
I intend to buy this nice TT (for Christmas, for example :-), but I don't feel at ease because I use dayly lots of softwares and huge databases from my memory card (using Pi Direct 2)
Some of these softwares are originally not designed to run this way, but Pi Direct tricks them perfectly and even allows their related read-only databases to be stored on the card too.
Unfortunately Pi Tech support does not seem to know what OS 5 is ;-)
Does anyone know if I will be able to run my softs and db from my SD card (dictionnaries apps, big languages databases,...) ? What are the required extra soft for this ?
Thanks in advance...and excuse my poor english, as it's not my native language ;-)
Cheers
Phil

I don't have first-hand experience with PiDirect, but it came up in the following thread:

JohnKes is the board member who introduced me to PiDirect. It sounds like a very useful application. Unfortunately, it is not yet compatable with OS5. :(

It is very useful; I bought it after 6 hours of a test. I suspect they are working on a revision but, to accomplish what they need to do, they need to get very familiar with OS 5. Sometimes good software takes some time to develop.

OK...I've read the posts gently given to me by Oldblue and I really begin to wonder if the jump to OS 5 really worths....No more hacks....No more way to use Pi Direct 2, at least for moooonths...Means that most part of the huge softs I usually run from my memory card won't run anymore....
For my personal case, I don't really see worthing improvements, except bluetooth embedded. Sigh ;-)
Thanks for your help, gentlemen :-)
