Mine is in the shipping process and am hoping it will arrive next week. hudsonkane 11-29-2002, 12:30 PM I'm waiting for mine to arrive. Does anyone know where I can go to get e-books, applications for this device? I bought the Axium 300 mhtz. Is it difficult to upgrade the memory, install programs, etc.? simonslaw 11-29-2002, 07:08 PM Yeah im still waiting on mine :( You should do a review see how many hours of mp3 play you can it. Oh does any one know when there new battery is come out the 3400 one? DScott 11-30-2002, 10:41 AM Greetings; I am going to order the 400Mhz Dell next week and cannot wait. My iPAQ 3600 is two years old and it's time for a new unit. I love my Dell desktop and the PDA's look to be better than the new iPAq's. Scott inexco 11-30-2002, 10:56 PM Congratulations: I received a letter from Dell Saturday that says mine has shipped. Gave a tracking number that does not work with ANY of the usual service. Can't wait, my Handspring was slam dunked by my son 3 weeks ago. I have been naked ever since. We even had a freeze a couple of nights ago....... sgo7 12-01-2002, 10:09 AM I checked the status of my order and it says mine shipped on November 26th. I'm hoping it will arrive tomorrow, but the status item says it is in shipping and hasn't changed since that day. No tracking number or anything. In the meantime I've read everything I can find on Pocket PC stuff and surveyed the available software and hardware for it. I currently have a Handspring Visor Pro so it will be different for me. I boyght a 128MB SD card for it already. I'll be looking to get a CF Wi-Fi adapter for it real soon. As you can see, I can hardly wait also. :) Lazarus33 12-02-2002, 10:28 AM Hello all! This is my first post to this board, but I was curious (abprice) as to when you initially placed your order for the Axim. I ordered mine on 11/26 and it says it's not estimated to ship until 12/17. Yikes! But I also got a 3-pack of stylus and the cradle for my 300Mhz Axim, so I'm wondering if that's what has shipped out so far. One thing is showing as shipped, but the Axim itself says it's in pre-production or what not. But I can't wait to get it, I'm switiching over from the Palm m505. I've heard people say that Pocket PC's are better, so I'm looking forward to getting it and learning the PPC 2002 OS. Palm is great but it ends up being a glorified organizer with some added capabilities, whereas it looks like this new Axim may do it all for me! Music, PIM, Movies, pictures, games. I already bought a $40 leather Coach case and a 192 MB CF card for it. Oh well...just curious as to when you placed your order. Thanks a bunch and good luck everyone! -Lazarus33 inexco 12-03-2002, 08:36 AM My "Big" Dell arrived Monday evening. I took it to a XMAS party for Show and Tell. I think I sold 2 more. My 11 year old son wanted to "play" with it as much as I did (he is the one who slam dunked my Handspring). abprice 12-03-2002, 11:21 AM I orderd my the morning of the 18th. I got the 400mhz, cradle with extra sync cable, 128 mb SD card, and zippered case. The only thing that I have found bad about the Axim is the voice recording quality. Anyone else notice the voice quaility being bad? inexco 12-03-2002, 12:04 PM I don't know that the quality is bad. There are several settings and I have not seriously played with it. The next to the bottom is the default. Again the higher the quality the bigger the file. This was not a function that I had to have. May find it of more use later in my experience. I think the speaker could be louder. I have it set at the loudest. I am about to go out and get a set of earphones. vbhonda 12-03-2002, 01:33 PM I couldn't find any technet articles at Microsoft on the sound quality issue. For future reference this is a great source of information. http://www.microsoft.com/technet I'll suggest a couple of troubleshooting ideas below but I don't have an Axim in my possession so these are generic ideas. As far as working through it make sure that it has the latest version of Microsofts Media Player for the PPC. I've had problems on my desktop that have gone away simply by replacing the media player with the most current version. Don't assume that Dell has loaded the most recent version in the PDA. Experiment with how far away the microphone is from your mouth. I've found some microphones are very sensitive to distance from the source of the sound. Hopefully this will help.
