Mike, can MC218/5MX be installed with java appl. ? I recently installed HTML 3.2 Java Applet Plug-In (Applet;Param), is it the correct thing to have those homepage with java , running?
Frankly, I do not really know about programming, so excuse my silly questions.. ;)
Also, does MC218 can function with full capacity just like any other notebook, regardless of its 16M only RAM ? I just don't explore enough to find out the strength of this little machine. ...
I certainly do hope that this piece of machine can do alot more things than any other pda (stuff) !!
Mine has its screen replaced before the warranty expired, so Iam lucky enough to have brand new screen for free. Now I just have to manage to use it careful enough not to cause screen damage in 2 years (at least!). My cousin in Holland, have this machine for already 4 years, with no problem with the screen. Probably its due to his very good handling of it. But it's rare to find such person who treat his Psion like treating an old lady... hahaha....
;) Ok then, that's all, Mike, nice talking to you.. thanks..

There is a useful guide to Java for Psion here:

http://www.foxpop.ndirect.co.uk/Java/java_01.htm

It details the various downloads required. If all you want is to be able to browse websites that utilise Java, then you just need the first download on the list - psionjvm.sis. The other downloads relate to programming in Java.

Hope that helps

Yea, saving it into CF card is also what I thought first. So when the Java run, what the cache suppose to be? I mean how big it is allowed? Pls advise as you r more experienced in this. Rgds,

Bong

As for an optimum setting, I guess that's an individual thing as well. I don't have much knowledge on this - does anyone have any recommendations?

Julie, ;) I downloaded JVM file already, but the zipped file (classes.zip) is supposed to be unzipped right? Then where do I suppose to put it in? Is it the same folder ? (lib) or another folder. I read already the instruction in the download homepage but it's kind of confusing to me. So , if u don't mind, pls do explain in steps , so I can follow as told. Thanks again.

Hi,

I'm the author of the tutorials. Yon need to rename your original classes.zip file in the \system\java\lib directory and copy the new classes.zip file (don't unzip it) into this directory.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Austin.

Thanks for stepping in, Austin. :) I actually thought your tutorial was extremely clear and easy to follow and didn't think there was anything further that I could add.

Hope you've got it figured out now, Bong.
