Hi,
Today I'm getting my new X51V, and I have 2 questions I'd like to ask before I get started using it. Is there anything else I should know?
1. I know there is a new ROM version out, how do I determine if I need it or not?
And 2nd: When I had my Jornada (POS), I know there were 3 types of software (something like ARM and others, I can't remember) out there. Which type do you need with the Axim.
Thanks you for your time and patience, with another newbie.
Al ;)

1> Start - Settings - System tab - System information , the latest ROM is A04.
2> ARM or XScale cpu and preferably for WM 5.0 but most softwares created for older wm2003 should still work.

Yesterday I got carried away and ordered an X51v direct from Dell and already I am close to wishing I had not done that. It seems now all I read is that users are reporting that WM 5 is full of bugs, their favorite software applications won't run, and about Dell there are complaints of manufactoring defects, slow delivery, poorly informed "help" line operators and on and on.
I was previously entertaining thoughts of ordering an HP IPAQ 4705 but got such a good deal on the X51v that I impulsively ordered one. If the X51v ever arrives I may put it unopened on eBay and go after that IPAQ 4700 after all.
Other than a recycled Palm IIIE several years ago I have not been part of the PDA/PPC scene. Am I being overly pessimistic AnswerDude?

Yes, i believe you are. Remember one thing, you will usually hear from people only when there are problems. There are probably more users out there that are happy with their Axim and Dell you did not hear or read about. I'm not saying that it does not have issues. At the same time i've never encountered any computers, hardwares or softwares that are problems free. Even hx4700 has its own issues and problems. Just use it and if you encounter problems (and you may not) worry about it then. Here's link with many reviews that may put your mind at ease;

I'm happy with mine. But I have to post a new thread because I can't get 2 files to delete.
