How can this be alleviated?? lfontain 01-20-2006, 02:41 PM Anybody? It is really anoying. Ms should allow you to change it right through ActiveSync just Palm does with their Palm Desktop software. I just bought a Dell Axim x51v (VGA) and upgraded from ActiveSync 3.8 to 4.1. I was using an older PPC and had repointed my Briefcase folder in the registry. Now doing the same thing - when I sync with ActiveSync it magically changes back to what it was before. The real issues take time to solve. duel 02-13-2008, 07:28 AM I can't believe how pathetic some of the fundamental design flaws are with ActiveSync. After reading this thread and a few others on the web it looks like there aren't any viable alternatives to Active Sync at present, and tweaking the program yields limited results. There are however a lot of great little add-on apps out there that tweak or make available new features. With regards to file synchronisation and choosing specific files / folders not restricted to your computers bloody deskop / my docs and specific location on your device, I have searched and come across the above Easy Sync. I haven't tried it yet, but looking at the page and its features, they seem to have it bang-on and I'm already convinced. Have a read yourself. It looks like you can choose whatever files / folders you want on both your device and computer from any location. It also has a bunch of other great and relevant features. I'll get back to this thread once I've had a play with it but this could be a while. I hope anyone who is looking for a solution finds this information useful. All the best and once again, here's the link; Easy Sync 2.8.6 (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=23049) mrbios 02-17-2008, 08:08 PM 02-17-08 I agree ms makes junk!! Especially, pocket pc. It is all bad right up to the latest WM6 which can forget your password and lock you out of your pocket pc!! Wow! WM6 is nice because it is fast like wm2003 was. Palm is plain but whips ms's junk os. I think WM6 and the rest are really the same old Windows CE OS recycled with the same flaws that all ms products suffer from: over complex due to trying to tie all the programs to tightly to the windows os - case-in-point: Active Sync is built into Windows Vista. My Dell Axim x51v is still going. I bought it 2 years ago. But in the first year I wasted something like 40 hours trying to resolve the many issues that came up - like alarms stop working! All were software flaws of microsoft or the result of the Dell A12 rom update (sept 2006). I will never use WM again and want to move to a new platform that is solid not junk. PDA Street
