Palm's m130 handheld is incompatible with Windows XP. They offer a minimal rebate on new replacement products, but this seems not good enough, and I am looking for others who had the same experience and would be interested in starting a class action suit or know about an existing suit.
Here is what happened to me: I bought a Palm m130 on August 2, 2003. It synchronized with MS Outlook in Windows XP for a while and then stopped - "no connection." Palm's customer support was unable to help at the time. I tried the last time in 2004 and then gave up. When I resumed my efforts today (11/29/05), a Palm tech guy told me that m130 and Windows XP are incompatible. I also learned that I can trade in my m130. To get a quote, I had to visit www.palm.tradeups.com. For an m130 in "excellent" condition, I would get $40, minus $15 for shipping and handling, which leaves me with a $25 rebate for a new handheld that is likely to cost over $100. I find this a bit cheap, considering it was Palm's problem and not my fault. Plus, the whole procedure would take more than 1 months.
Did the same thing happen to anybody else? Does any of you know of an existing class action suit, or would any of you be interested in starting one? Thank you in advance for letting me know.
