:) Thanks for taking the time to help out.. I set up my new 3600 and did the hot sync's as recommended. I was able to get one Hot synch before I loaded an SD card with maps. Now I can;t get a hot sync at all. It keeps telling me the unit is not communicating. When I try to get to Hot Sync tools via my start up menu there is nothing there? I am going to try a reset, if that fails can I start over the install with the provided 3 CD'S?? Thanks very much. Its working great and I love it but I obviously need the synch... :) :)
Did you, by chance, move the USB connector into another USB port since the first sync? Some PCs can't deal with that and they must be in the same port to work (my laptop for one).

I read through the threads (duh) and pulled, then reinstalled the SD card. Seems I have to do that every time I sync? I am not sure why though.

I have no problems hot synching with a 1GB SD card installed.
It may be that your card is not recognised by Palm Desktop. It may be worth doing a full reinstall, this time put the SD card into the unit before you perform the 1st hot sync.

I had this problem once before, make sure the usb driver is correct and updated, and be sure the device manager in XP "sees" the unit
From a Curious Cat post:
"Open the Device manager (right click on My Computer, click properties, click on the hardware tab then the device manager button).
With the device manager window open, press the hotsync button with the iQue in the cradle and the USB cord connected to your computer.
The iQue will appear in the device manager.
Right click on it and pick properties. Click on the Driver tab. With the Garmin CD in the CD ROM, click on the update button and let windows search for the driver (it's the default/recommended action).
The secret is the iQue only shows up during sync operations - otherwise it technically isn't connected to the comptuer and therefore will not show up in the device manager."
Another from him:
"Try going to your Palm folder, probably C:\Program Files\Palm and find the USB_Driver folder. Open it and right click on the palmusbd.inf file and chose install. See if that helps."
Hope this helps.

That's what happened to me, too. Garmin was great in replacing the cradle.
