AD & Jonas

I had a major meld down and now Garmin Que does not see the BT-338, just the G10 which is know where in site.

I had Destinator3 installed and the BT-338 worked fine.

Any idea's?

PS Happy Holidays to one and all

Hi Egmont, since AD & Jonas are not in the neigbourhood I will give it a try. ;)

Garmin Que will only work with the GPS 10 or another Garmin model attached by a cable because it needs the unit-ID to open your unlocked maps. It is quite normal that Que doesn't show your BT-338.
Your BT-338 could work however if you were using GPSProxy.
How did you use Garmin Que before the 'meltdown'?

Hi Mapper
I guess Jonas is on holiday.
I did a search on the BT-338 and found many of my previous messages on the BT-338.

You are right, it will not work directly. I also have the G10 and keep one in my truck and one in my SUV with matching holders in each. So it is easy to switch from one to the other.

I never did have it working, what I did have was the G10 working with Destinator3 under the NMEA protocol.

I will look into the GPSProxy and if you can give me some hints, I would be grateful.

Egmont, I don't quite understand what you mean.
Are you saying you own a GPS 10 in combination with Garmin Que and City Select 7 maps and you never got it working?
It is a great working combination so in my opinion you must try to get it installed correctly.
What setup are you aiming at?

All that on a HP4705 and it works very well.

I am aiming to get my BT-338 to work with Garmin Que and City Select Maps.

I downloaded GPSProxy but have not installed it yet.
Do I need anything else, like Virtual Com Port?
Thanks

So if I understand you correctly you are using Que on a HX4700 with the GPS 10 in one car and in your other car you want to use the same HX4700 with the BT-338?

I really think the best working solution is to take the GPS 10 with you and forget about the BT-338 in combination with GPSproxy and Que!

First of all it is not very easy to configure GPSproxy (latest version 1.15) and getting Que working without any problems. If you are interested why please do some reading in this Malaysian (http://www.malsingmaps.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=16) forum.

Secondly whenever you change cars you will have to change the COM-port in the settings of Garmin Que!

** If you still want to try it out, GPSproxy 1.15 is an easy to install exe and it even contains a virtual COM-port so you don't need GPSGate anymore. But I really warn you, if you already own a GPS 10 forget about the whole thing and use this great device in both cars! ;)

I will heed your advice.
