Questions about installing AO6 ROM update

I downloaded the AO6 ROM update for my Dell X30 PDA. I installed it and extracted the files and when I tried the run it said, Caution "Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure that ActiveSync is installed on the computer and that ActiveSync connection is successful." I was already connected to ActiveSync when it said this. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem?

I've heard about this issue a few times on Aximsite. I'm sure you've already restarted both axim and desktop and tried update again. Here's a thread discussing this issue, it's for another axim model but some of the recommedation should apply, in short, the least complicated solution is to try the update with another desktop.
