Anyone Using X5 as a TV Remote?

I have an axim x5. I downloaded vito remote and pdawin trials. Not sure what I'm doing. I was hoping I could use the x5 as a tv remote. I have Dish Network with an Echostar 3700 receiver and the remote that came with it. The remote isn't working. :(

Do I need a special card in my axim to make this work?

The software is installed but when I start pressing buttons nothing happens. I put a ccf file on it for echostar that is supposed to work with the 3000 series receivers.

How far away are you from the receivers? The ir port on the x5 is only standard ir port not consumer ir port. It's not designed for remote control purpose but for short range data transfer or keyboard. I don't think you'll get more than 3 or 4 feet distant.

I was right in front of it - on the same table. I plopped my axim right in front of the ir thing on the dish box. :\ Nothing seemed to happen when I pushed buttons. Maybe I had the wrong CF file?? I couldn't find any that said "echostar 3700".
