The maps are copyright. Go to the Garmin site and buy the City Select Europe CD. That is the only legal method of getting the Maps.

The maps of German and Italy require between 250 and 500 Mb so you will need an SD Card as well.

I looked on Ebay -the Metroguide is listed - that doesn't allow autorouting on the iQue, I believe.
There is one Europe City Select - NIB - make sure it is a sealed item as you need the coupon code and the unlock codes to register the product so you can use it.
gpscity has the Navigator for $309.

Is also breaking copyright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remeber we rely on good maps, good maps need funding which is what our payments provide. Illegally using maps without payment impacts everybody.

Technically, you are right, but one can see it also as "buy one get one free" policy from Garmin. Also, the pricing for Europe is steep at $300+. If it was more like $100, more people would buy it without looking for pirated options.
Disclamed: Please don't flame me, I didn't start this topic.

Yes it's expensive, but worth it.

I purchased the Euro maps last summer and used them in the UK and Ireland. Wonderful to have and worth every penny. I wish they were cheaper, but I was glad I had them.

The detail for Ireland is rather pathetic and cannot be justified!

Actually, in terms of roadways and towns, etc., I found it to be quite good.

POI information was not very good, especially outside of major centres, however I'm not really looking for that.

All I really expect is a reasonable "you are on this winding cow path, travelling 87 k, driving north, frantically trying to avoid being run off the road by a lunatic in a white van" type of information.

;-)

I don't expect the POI info to be all that good, so perhaps it's a case of the product meeting my low expectations... Still I was very glad I had it and found it usefull when setting off cross country - even off the beaten track the road data was quite good.

Much easier than unfolding a paper map.

Can't speak for Ireland but in mainland Europe and mainland Britain the POI information is pretty good. Every hotel that I used in a 10 day trip from the UK to the Czech Republic and back via Austria was in the POI.

Routing to destinations was very precise, delivering me to the front door of most of the hotels without problem.

I used the iQue in Ireland recently, and I'm about halfway between you and Strumble in my opinion on the Ireland coverage. It is definitely much better than it was a couple of years ago, and it is useful for routing in Dublin and vicinity, a few other cities, and between towns.

One really wierd routing Betty presented me with was from Wicklow back to the Dublin airport. The normal route would be up the N 11, and then making your way over to the M 50, but I found Betty to have the heart of an explorer. She routed me west from Ashford over the Sally Gap road! That is a beautiful drive, but definitely not the best route, and, yes, I did check that my "Preferences" were set correctly.

On day trips from Wicklow to Wexford, Avoca, Glendalough, Kilkenny, etc. the routing was much better, and was critical in getting me out of Dublin city center when I first picked the car up.

A lots of people create own maps for GPS. Try to look for it or email me if you need a map of Europe. But I need some maps of North America, could you help me with links or maps?
