Hi all

Have just won an auction on ebay for a 5mx with palm money prog also included.

So question is this:

what is going to impress me over using my 3a and 3mx I currentl own ?

Look forward to any feedback you can offer.

Is there much that will make me go WOW !! ?

Ok 2 things :

1) I appreciate this is very much a personal taste kind of question.
2) ehm isn't this wrong way round ? shouldn't I have asked this 1st then bought one ?

ehm maybe but I just kinda fancied one anyway.

so personal taste or not would love to hera lots of feedback. C'mon all give it the hard sell LOL :D

also anything I 'll not like compared to 3 series ?- I believe battery life is A LOT less - is this true ?

Any must have accesories etc ? Any opinions on the money software ?

Look forward to any replies, many thanks

Stefan

It might surprise you to find that some applications in the 5mx are actually less sophisticated than those in the Series 3.

For example, EPOC "Word" doesn't support RTF which the S3 does.

EPOC "Sheet" cannot save files in any PC compatible formats which the S3 can.

However, "Email" on the 5mx is superb in comparison to PsiMail Internet.

You'll soon find out for yourself what you like or don't like with the 5mx :)

built-in sampler.

heavy tho, compared to a 3.

What is sampler please ?

I guess I'll like the larger keys/keyboard - is it stable when typing ? Looks to me like the keyboard overlaps front of the unit does this not make it unstable ?

Thanks for feedback thus far.

Can't believe the sheets can't be compatable with PC's - does this mean even psiwin can't convert them to be compatable with PC's ?

won't be using it for email so won't see the benefit there LOL

Amazing to think the 3 can do some stuff the 5 can't.

Is the data app much different n any better/more featured ?

also does it have a contacts prog in addition to data.

Thanks again all

Can't believe the sheets can't be compatable with PC's - does this mean even psiwin can't convert them to be compatable with PC's ? Yes PsiWin can convert Sheet to Excel but the Sheet application itself cannot save directly in a PC format which the S3 could. There is also an application called "nConvert" from www.neuon.com which will convert various EPOC files to the equivalent PC format on the Psion itself.
also does it have a contacts prog in addition to data Yes, it does.

True, but I've found that nConvert fills that gap, and several others. It lets me write docs on my Series 7 and mail them to people who are still stuck with PCs and Micro$oft Office or similar, as well as several other conversions. Well worth the £20 registration.
