I'm new here, but I need help figuring out how to put music onto my PDA. I'm totally clueless, someone help! sorry if this has been asked before!

Seeing that you are using a EM500 with only 16mb of RAM, you might want to get a SD/MMC Card. With that being said, let's do this, shall we?
Connect your PPC to your desktop using ActiveSync, then press on the TAB "Explore" then "My Pocket PC". You are interest in the "My Documents" folder, that is where you will place your .WMA, MP3, OGG files.
Just copy the music file from your desktop that you want on your PPC, and then paste it to the "My Documents" folder of your PPC.
Now if you have a storage card (MMC/SD), you will have to create a folder on the storage card and name it to "My Documents". So you will then have 2 My Documents folders, one on storage card, and 1 on the PPC.
If you want the Music file on the storage card to save space on your PPC, then do the following.
Connect the PPC to your desktop using activesync, then press on the TAB "Explore" then "My Pocket PC". You then need to click on the "Storage Card" folder, there you will see your "My Documents" folder you created.
Just copy the music file from your desktop that you want on your PPC, then paste it to that folder.
To speed things up, you can also use a MMC/SD Reader. you can then copy and paste directly on the memory card, without going thru ActiveSync.

When I bought my Casio EM 500 it came with an application to manage media files on the PPC. It run on your desktop pc and will convert mp3's to wma and then copy them to the ppc . This means that as wma files are roughly half the size of mp3's you will get a lot more music per mb of storage space !
As the previous post says you have got to get a SD or MMC card to store any signifcant amout of music
p.s I have that app ifyou need it

colinkhalid...I would love anything to save me space and make this task easier, so sure I'd love that application, if I could get it from you somehow. thanks eerybody for your input, hopefully I'll be able to comprehend how to follow those directions!

Hi
MMC = multi media card
SD = secure digital card
They will fit into to slot on the top of the EM500 and expand the storage area.

A reader is a USB device that allows you plug the card directy into it and is then visable as a drive on your pc

If you get a key type card reader it will also serve as a rewriatable file transfer media for large files.
You can also tramsfer the files directly to the SD/MMC card through the reader.
The ppc version of the Windows media player also supports converting your media files to wma & directly saving them on your MMC cards.
WMA format will generally save you space while converting the source directly and not from an MP3 file.
