A Big thank you to Jupiter who got me in the right track to post my own thread, and my appologies for posting things all over the place, but here I am.
I think my first post was this one:Hi all, I'm new here but was looking to get my 5mx psiwin to work with W xp and with your advices I've got it working with no prob. But I must stress that I installed it on a new pc with XP with no previous installation on it. It just refused to run with my original version of Psiwin. So a big thank you
Now I had some database from my 3a converted to the psion. They're ok on the machine but I don't seem to be able to open them on the pc. It shows the transfer (graphic) but as soon as I try to copy or convert using CVS or Access I only get an error Telling me "There was a problem converting your file the acces is denied" or if I use "copy". it tells me that my file has no file associated with and I should go to Control panel to do so and it terminate the operation.
My next post was to give you an idea of my relationship with my psion. but it was on Martin Maxwell thread so I bring it here with again appologies!
"Hi Guys I read many of your threads and I'm delighted by your devotion and testimony of good service on the part of the 5MX. I got mine, I think 3 or 4 years ago and love it too (even if I miss the colour and the windows operating system look because I'm confused enough as it is, going from W95,98,2k and Xp, to get use of my psion way to handle things...Yep that's the way it is!) Recently both my friend and I ordered a new ribond from UK as our screens packed up and we (he!) had moderate success in puting them back together, as a result mine lost its screen light and there is some problem with the switch on and off apart from this it's back on duty! But tell me about the display! I have to put a little fluorescent light above it to be comfortable, I tried diferrent brightness and contrast but as reported by other it's not the best.
Three cheers for the trick with the coin! I defenitely want to give this a go. (Would an expensive coin do a better job? Only joking)
I'm only using my 5mx for the contact, diary, word and database. But when I go on holiday I like to write my diary with it, I remember doing this on the "cowboy" (now illegal!) minibus in Malaysia with my 3a, it was fast and bumpy sitting at the back, but I had a good go at it and gererally was pleased with the result even if it needed a little re editing later on; Anyway it could be done on the PC. I did the same thing with the 5mx through China, but at time it was a little like a mouse trap as I wanted to change the angle of the screen and it can snap closed! Is also bulkier than the 3a. But yes the space bar was often missed and my spell check had to work overtime!
For me cost is fairly important as I don't use it for business since I've got none, so internet and such extra are not a valid proposition.
Going back to the devotion and love of it. Is there anyone amongst you of outstanding influence to talk to someone to resurect the psion and make it live with the time? I would imagine such a good machine would inspire somebody. Then again I used to think the same with my Amiga 500! And just a few weeks ago did I really see that WWW.psion.com site was for sale or I miss read it?
Again for me a big plus would be to be able to connect in on the desk top and use my psion through my desk top or a lap top when I'm at home. (I've got a digital camera which can be edited this way once connected to a pc, and it's a lot easier). This reminds me of the guys who says he can type quicker on his psion than his K board! Did i read this right too??? he must be a blind violonist or something like it.

Now I need your good wishes as I am about to pull my 5MX appart to see if I can find the switch that used to give me the back light and switch on and off according to my preference, (now I don't think it switches off at all althought the screen goes black when I do switch it off but when I restart it it goes directly to the last program used! not very secure.
