My computer will not detect my ipaq h3630, when I'm trying to set up a partnership.

I think the ipaq is detecting the computer, but the computer will not detect my ipaq.. :(

I'm sure that the cables are put in as they should, and I have tried to set up a partnership with different computers, but the same thing happens :(

I also get this message sometimes: Critical communications services have failed to start. To correct this error, exit all applications and restart windows. If the problem persists, please reinstall microsoft active sync by running setup from the installation disk(s)"

do you know what is wrong??
I really want my ipaq to work.

Thanks

-Dennis

What operating system is on the host computer? If it's W2k or XP, you can try scanning for new hardware in the device manager (start > control panel > system, Hardware, Device manager; right-click Computer and select Scan for hardware changes in the drop-down menu).

I had the same problem and i've solve it.
:)

when i first tried to have a partnership, my comp can only identify my h3630 as a guest.

what you should do is to hard reset it and try connecting it again...

Junior as i am, but it worked...:)

I also recently got that same error message (albeit AFTER I already had it working and syncing for a few weeks) and it turned out to be a loose USB cable on the hub I had it plugged into. It got jarred loose evidently when I was jacking around with the hub. Check that, and also, you can verify for sure if your desktop computer IS seeing the PPC by checking the hardware manager, there should be an item at the very bottom of the list that says "Windows CE USB Device". Not sure if this helps, but could be a place to start. Good luck!
