I know this has been hashed out before but I have tried everything!
My M130 used to

Now, when I connect the USB to the PC, the computer does not even give the usual tone to indicate that it sees a new peice of hardware . The palm DOES beep and indicates charge.

I have searched everywhere and done the following

1 de-install and re-install latest desktop manager.
2 soft and hard resets on Palm
3 Tried to install through control panel (gives error cannot start Palm code 10)
4 Palm article describes oopening INF folder and then open each .INF file to look for any mention of Palm. If you find one, they say to delete it As there are hundreds of these files and none give any indication in the title that they are related to Palm, this would take forever?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Try plugging something else USB into that slot.
If it doesn't work it may be a loose card or bad port.
A dirty connector on the palm, charger or the USB port itself could interfere with the signal but still let you charge.
Isopropyl alcohol like that used for cleaning tape recorder heads (90% or better at the drug store) will clean them, just use a Qtip.this may happen more frequently if someone in your house smokes.
Use caution with the alcohol,it's flammable, dangerous, volatile and poisonous.
Unplug your computer if you want to clean a USB port or USB powered device like a cradle(they are powered).
To eliminate the palm itself as the problem try syncing at a friends house on thier setup.
