im new to the handheld game i should get my dell PPC by late Dec. I was wondering if you can program with a PPC? lm a computer science major and it would be nice to have a C++ compiler on the Axim and maybe a simple IDE. I only well be writting simple console programs not developing desktop software. If there isn't a C++ compiler what about Java? I also am taking some java classes.

There are a few programs that will let you do some compiling...

Get Visual Studio .Net. You can write C++ console programs in it.... dunno if you can do a PPC console program or not though. See if you can get an academic version for free from your school.

Zaurus has two i believe normal gcc and a chopped down one called zgcc. Maybe ill get lucky and Dell well make a linux OS for there PPC. Or some linux gurus well do if for them.

thanx again for all your input but short of learning a new language or buying a diff PPC. My C++ coding time well be spent on my desktop. Hmm ill have to send Dell a letter asking for a optional linux OS for the Axim for all the good that well do:)
