I live in norway (europe) so if i should buy the axim I have to wait untill march 2003..and I bet the axim (400mhz) will cost around 400-500$ when it comes here. (h3950 costs 500$ here now).

But should I wait for the axim 5, or should I buy the h3950 now?

I want the h3950 more, but the h3950 has only 32mb ROM, and the axim has 48mb ROM..
I know the h3970 has 48mb ROM, but it's too expensive.

32mb ROM is enough for me to store things on, but I want to be sure that I can get a new Pocketpc OS on it when that time comes, so do u think that 32mb ROM will be enough?

the 32mb ROM is the only thing that stops me from buying the h3950 over the axim...I dont like the axim so much, looks ugly..

And one other thing: is the h3950 good for games, video and multimedia?
does it support multiple presses when playing games? (my h3630 doesn't) and is the framerate good when watching videos? (pocket tv, divx....)

How is the buttons to play games? Good? Bad?

Thanks.

the way I understand it, ROM has nothing to do with storage. You can't really manipulate data stored in ROM. ROM, of course means read-only memory. On PDA, I think the OS image is stored there.

You want to look at the RAM storage. The H3950 has 64MB of RAM, and I think the Axim does too.

My 3950 plays games, movies and music great! I've watch full length movies stored on SD memory card. Except I usually compress the videos heavily to get more space out of the device. I've pushed a 90min movie to 110MB, which fits well on my 256MB SD card. I use 23 fps, and 100-200 kbps video bitrate, and 32kbps MP3 audio bitrate for my videos.

I don't like the button setup on the Compaq though, for games anyway. A lot of the better games, designed specifically for the Pocket PC in mind, work best. Games like Monopoly, Everquest, Lemonade, and Hyperspace Delivery Boy are some of the better ones.

I know that they both have 64mb RAM, but the h3950 has 32mb ROM and the axim has 48mb ROM.

Is 32mb ROM to small or is it enough?
Is 32mb ROM enough for the next ppc OS?

Must I have 48mb ROM?

Thanks

Greetings;

I have read omewhere that the extra space on the ROM can be used for storage. I will try to find some supporting data and will repost then.

I know you can use it for "filestore"

But is 32mb ROM enough?
Or do you think I need 48mb ROM?

Must you have 48mb ROM for the next ppc OS?
Or do you think it's enough with 32mb ROM?

I really want the h3950, but I just want to know if 32mb ROM is enough?

Is it smart to buy a pocketpc with 32mb ROM now?

Thanks

I just received my Dell yesterday. There is an old saying that I truly believe

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

You will be much happier buying the Ipaq TODAY than waiting until March for the Dell.

I had been without a PDA for only 3 weeks and I was Naked.

I would have bought the Ipaq 5450 if I could have had it by TODAY.
