I'm trying to set up my iPaq PDA which has wireless to access my email. My ISP requires that I change the SMTP outgoing port from the default to 587. How do I do that on my windows mobile iPAQ hx-2495 PDA?

AnswerDude 02-17-2006, 10:42 AM You can try using 3rd party mail client such as Qmail instead, not sure how well it works with WM 5.0 though. http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1344 Walter Scott 02-17-2006, 10:48 AM You can try using 3rd party mail client such as Qmail instead, not sure how well it works with WM 5.0 though. http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1344 ok, i will if i have to, but i was hoping to use what is built into the unit. thanks for the fast response. jairola 02-17-2006, 11:10 AM Using similar model hx2490... gmail uses these smtp settings for smtp: Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587, so I just defined the SSL for POP3 and for SMTP ("require SLL for outgoing mail" in default wm5 Messaging app) and I did not define any ports anywhere. It works for me. Walter Scott 02-17-2006, 03:40 PM got the answer! you can add the port number where you enter the outgoing server, like this: outoing mail server: mail.whatever.com:587 PDA Street
