Hi,
I just replaced my old Casseopia with a hp Ipaq 2495. I used the Casio at work, on a network system with no trouble for 8 years. I installed the newer version of ActiveSync per instructions. Attached the cradle to the USB port. Got an initial sync between the Windows PC and the pda. Now, here's the dilemma.
I started missing meeting dates because the pda was not auto syncing with the PC and vice versa. Our corporate IS Group does not support pda use, so I bounced between hp and Microsoft to get support help. I was impressed with the courtesy and response by the hp customer service.
We uninstalled the ActiveSync from my work pc, reinstalled it, and still no connection. Then, we created a new file on the pda and I transfered a Word doc with no problem. So, the pc and pda were "talking" to each other, just not syncing with Outlook. So, then we wiped the pda clean with a hard reset to factory defaults. Removed ActiveSync from the pc, and reinstalled it. Now, nothing works. I cannot get the pc to sync with pda or pda to pc.
The hp rep thought that there was a conflict with either the network firewall or anti-virus software. He indicated that both those programs will "see" a pda as external computer or virus and block it. The guys in our IS Group said that if I was only connecting to the Windows PC and not the Exchange Server, that the firewall was not a problem. Hp rep said that the anti-virus software must be configured to allow my pc to allow transmission between the pda and the pc.
If anyone can help, I'd surely appreciate it. Can't understand why the initial sync went fine, and then the 2 units stopped syncing. And now, I can't even get the pda to sync with the pc. I use my pda a lot, and am less organized without it. Thanks for your feedback.
