Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a IrDa driver for the e-100 that allows it to communicate with other devices without a program such as Conduit's Peacemaker...

I know the newer Pocket PCs have this functionality out-of-the-box but does the casio have a driver for this?

Thanks!!

Windows CE like the version you have do not use drivers
persay. You need a program like the Peacemaker that has
the support built in. There are no such thing as installable
drivers like the desktop Windows.

The newer PocketPC's have this feature built into Windows CE.

Good luck

It depends entirely on the device you are trying to connect to.

If it is something like a printer or a cellular phone you very definitely need a driver supplied by the specific equipment manufacturer or a usable substitute.

For example I have used Ericsson IR modem driver with a Siemens & Nokia cellular phones to connect to the net for email & browsing.

If it is to connect to a PC or a notebook you don't need one.

Hope this helps.

Hi PMShah:

Do you still have an E-1xx version Casio?
Any idea if there are still many users or are these gone
like the dinosaurs?

I very surely do have an upgraded E-105 ( now it is E-115) that I use daily to catch up on my email & other news letters I subscribe to while commuting to work which takes up about 2 hours every day.

There is nothing that the new devices offer that I need. I have a 1 GB IBM microdrive for storing the attachments & my other Excel files.

I don't believe in upgrading just for the heck of it.

@ netblade:

To which kind of device are you trying to connect?

If it's a cell phone, e.g. from Nokia, there are irda drivers available on the net... check Google using "Nokia irda drivers windows ce" or something like that. These are originally for the WinCE 2.0 devices, but work just fine on WinCE 2.11.

Otherwise, WinCE 2.11 has generic irda drivers included, to create null-modem connections via infrared to desktops, laptops or other irda-capable pda's.

Happy hunting ;)

@ bettyboop:

There are more Cassiopeia E-1xx dinosaurs out there than you knew ;)
I have an upgraded E-105G, which is now an E-115, and I'm as happy as I could be with it. :D

I bought a Nokia cellular phone but there were no CE device drivers on the CD. I hunted the net but couldn't find any.

I also has Ericsson TI-28 clip on modem which included CE drivers. These worked flawlessly with Siemens, Nokia & The Ericsson of course.

For connecting to a cellular phone through IR you must have built_in / clip on modem. Simply having IR port on the cellular phone is not enough.

Try http://www.nokia.com/cda1/0,1080,1499,00.html . The CE drivers download is located further down the page.
