My small son pushed a lead into the charge and sync socket on the bottom of my 3970. It was the wrong lead and the socket is damaged. I can just about get the thing to sync but it won't charge. It's a company Ipaq and my boss will go mad so I'm wondering if there's any way I can fix it myself. Anyone know how to get the back off and also if I can get a spare part and from where? I know I'll void the warranty but I'll take the chance to keep my boss from finding out!!

Personally I wouldn't try that (and I have replaced my iPAQ 3630 battery by myself)... I'd contact these guys--
http://www.linearlogix.com/ipaq/index1.html

They did a RAM upgrade and a flip screen fix for me about a year ago -- Great work and first class, professional service -- I don't know "for sure" that they do this fix, but I'm pretty sure they could and I don't think that they would overcharge you...

FYI, this link shows how to get into an iPAQ...

Thank you. I emailed the guys at linearlogix and got a very helpful reply. It's going to cost a bit, but I should be OK now.

How much? ... and what will they have to do?
