Hi, this is my first post. I am a huge netBook/psion fan - wouldn't touch any of those other nasty computers (apart from Amigas of course).

Introductions over, I was wondering if any of you had experience /success attaching jpg file/s to emails sent from your netBook. When I tried attaching a JPG file, it attached, sent, but the receiving PC opened up the attachment as garbage text. :(
Saving as *.JPG on the PC didnt work either. Maybe the PC receiving side was to blame, it was running AOL after all...

If anyone is eager to help, I could send them a small JPG file with an email as an experiment.

Thanks peeps.

BTW, any C64 old timers should know that the frodo C64 emulator has been recently updated to play sound and use correct colours. I prefer playing these games to the specific games that are written for Epoc!

it was running AOL after all... I would think that probably just about says it all!

In the Email application, if you go to the settings for your "Account":

"Tools > Account settings > (mailbox name)" and tap the Advanced button at the right of the dialog box, you will see there is an option to Use MIME encoding.

If this box is checked, attachments will be sent MIME encoded.

If the box is not checked, attachments will be sent UUencoded.

UUencoding is an older format and if you are sending with this, AOL may not be able to decode it.

It might also help if you ZIP files before sending, if you have a utility to do this in the Psion.

If anyone is eager to help, I could send them a small JPG file with an email as an experiment

Chances are that if it isn't being retrieved with AOL, the file will be decoded properly by a conventional POP3 email program, but feel free to send one to me:

On a recent holiday I sent photos home from my netBook as jpeg attachments, and they arrived just fine. NOT running AOL, by the way!

I have receintly picked up this version but I can't get it to load tape images. Any ideas? I also run the games on a PC emulator but my version of Nemisis gives 'ghost' bombs that get in the way!

If you have any ideas it would be good. We could even share images if I have any you need.

I looked in settings, MIME encoding was already enabled. For a laugh, I tried disabling it and sending the JPG attacthment email - and it worked! Left me dazed and confused, but very happy! THANKS M&M!

*.TAP or *.T64 files dont work on frodo. What you need are *.D64 files. You can download them from sites such as http://www.lemon64.com/
or do what I do, and download them via ftp (cant remember the ftp address I use right now).

Average game file sizes are 70K, so you are only going to get as far as picking up a spoon if you try making a cup of tea while it downloads.

Once you have your *.D64 file, run frodo, hit preferences, enter the filename and path in the top disk box, close preferences, type
LOAD "*",8,1
RUN

if that doesnt work, try toggling 'emulation' in disk preferences and trying again.

My favorite game is stunt car racer, an amazing 3d racing game.

I have used the Lemon64 site before, but the FTP site would be very usefull!

I still own a C64 but never tried taking images of my own games. One of my favorite is Nemisis (though I can only find the .t64 image and can't run it on the Psion :()! Now if I can play that on the Psion it would be great!

I write my own Psion programs and might port some games one day to the Psion.

Guys,

Your discussion about the Commodore platform really shouldn't be in this forum. Can I suggest you take it to private emails. Thanks,
