my boss just got a PPC 6700 Sprint Phone and is OK on POP3 mail send/receive, but when we try to switch over to an Outlook account, there is nothing. No send, no receive. Can we just delete the old POP# and create a new Outlook or can we have both? The Outlook only synchs when it's cradled. And no, we aren't running an Exchange server.

I think you are referring to Activesync Inbox part that only syncs to desktop Outlook's. Just create another POP mail account with the same POP server information as your desktop and you can access the mail server same as your desktop. You can have both activesync inbox and POP mail accounts at the same time

But it still throws mail at the POP3 "inbox" rather than the Outlook Inbox when out of the cradle. I would like to wipe the device of the POP3 and keep the Outlook set-up...any ideas? The "send and receive" are grayed out at this point.

I remember when I was looking for a workaround to the Sprint Treo 650 to allow other Treo's from other carriers on the Goodlink server, Sprint had a proprietary server (in their data network maybe?) that wouldn't allow the adoption of other devices. Blackberry, Treo, PPC, nada, nilch, nunca, nothing would work on their server.

Is this the same 'ole deal?

(PS)

I'll still buy 'ya the Russian as it solves the immediate problem and gets the job done.

As far as i know, Outlook inbox is only for sync desktop Outlook mail, you cannot put POP mail in it. There are a few 3rd party POP mail clients that many consider to be better than Pocket Outlook, if you want to go that route.
