Help with mail

I just got a Clie SJ30. I am trying to set up mail for it. I selceted Netscape option and it shows that it has been selected successfully. When I do a Hotsync the mail from my netscape account is not sent to the PDA. This is drving me nuts trying to figure it out. I would appreciate any help.

I assume you mean Netscape Messenger, right? The mail client that comes with Netscape? Have you selected Netscape to be your default email client? That could be the problem.

I had a tough time trying to sync up two email accounts for me and my wife - I was using Outlook Express & she was using Netscape Messenger. Apparantly, Hotsync will only sync the default mail client to the PDA.

I did select Netscape as my mail on the Palm program and when I Hotsync nothing happens. Do I need to make it my defualy mail somewhere else?? I read a post from last year and someone mentioned having problems with Netscape because it was IMAP (or something like that).

I am on a mission to try and figure this out!! Thanks for your reply.

There are two similar acronyms. First is IMAP - your email needs to be set as POP3. That is, the email is actually downloaded onto your hard drive. Where you set up your mail server settings, make sure you have it set to POP3.

The other acronym is MAPI - which has to do with the default mail application. In Edit-> Preferences, under the mail tab, check the box that says "Make Netscape the default mail application." Which version of Netscape are you using?

I am using Netscape 7.0. I went into settings and it said I needed to create/delete my current account to change settings from IMAP. So I did that and it does not give me any options to select POP3.

Can you give me any assistance in changing the setting to POP3?

Okay, I was playing around with Netscape 7.0. Why don't you start from the beginning and create a new email account

I'm assuming this is NOT a web based account like Yahoo or Hotmail, right?

So open the Netscape Messenger (email) program. Go to Edit -> Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings. Choose "Create a new account" and then choose the email option. Once you enter a username and email address, it will ask you if you want this to be POP3 or IMAP.

Now for me, when I first started Messenger after I created an account, it immediately asked me if I wanted to make Netscape Messenger my default email client.
