Hi,
I am trying to interface my iPAQ 3955 to a handheld GPS unit (an Eagle Explorer) I have set both to the same serial configuration and NMEA protocol. I am connecting the devices with 9 pin serial plugs. The plugs are female on both units so I am using a gender changer. I also have a null modem adaptor. Here is what happens (doesn't happen).
1. I think that I should be using com1, nothing at all happens with the others. Is this correct?
2. I think that I need the nul modem adaptor. However when I use it the PC seems to hang up (or get very unresponsive). I usualy end up doing a soft reset.
3. Afterwards, com1 becomes unavailable. A soft reset does not clear the problem. After a while (like over night) com1 becomes available again.
4. If I don't use the null modem adaptor, nothing at all happens. As far as I can tell.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike T.
