Hi, I am new to this forum. I own a Palm Vx and planning to buy another palm for my wife. I am looking at the T615C and T665C due to the size of these devices. However, I went to the sony store and non of the sales rep can answer my questions.
1. I came across some people who use Clie and they found some aftermarket software (mostly from download.com) did not work properly on clie but worked fine on Palm, they are usually display problems.
2. Can Clie be flashed to upgrade OS? Like a Palm Vx can be upgraded from OS 3.5 to OS 4.1 with ease.
Thanks

Second question first, I'm pretty sure that both of those models are already on OS4.1, the devices are flash upgradeable but Sony have not released free upgrading packs in the same way that Palm did for 3.1 to 3.3.
The only problems I have encountered with software not running on the Clie has been cured by disabling the app from the Hi-Res assistant so that the Sony does not attempt to presesnt the app in Hi_res but defaults to 160x160. In fact there is a free software called Switchdash which allows you to disable apps stored on the MS which the inbuilt doesn't do.

PS. no OS 4.1 device will be able to be upgraded to OS5

I didnt go with the 665 or the 615, because I didnt need the multimedia playback so much, and I got told that the battery useage on these was a good bit heavier.
In the end went with an SJ30.... VERY small, and plenty of process power

Yes, absolutely, I go for Sj-30 because it is cheaper.
And my friend told me that after a 4 hours of playing MP3 in his T665C ,the battery is no longer avialable. He can do nothing with his PDA any more.

If your planing on filling the memory and also getting a memory stck it might be safer to get the t665c because of the 66 mhz processor. The sj30 has a 33 mhz, which is great, unless you expect it to perform like usual with a 128 meg stick in it. Plus the t665c has an aluminum body, and mp3 if you want it. I do agree though battery life is important.

I beginning to love my new Sunset Orange Clie 665. Very much depending on what you need to do with your PDA. I need multimedia especially MP3 as I do not want to carry too many device. I also need a device that is slim. I do not need camera that is why I do not choose the other higher end CLIE. 665 is just perfect for me although I just wish the battery life can last longer.

I have the T665c and have no problems with 90% of the programs I get from [URL=http://palmgear.com].
As to the low battery issue. I turn off the screen by putting the hold button on and ran 4 hrs listening to my MP3's off of a 128mb stick. The votage was 4.26v when started and when I stopped it was 3.92v that's in the 90% power range. Also set your brightness level to 25%. You can learn alot by reading the forums.
Good luck.

Hello
Wanting to get my first pda. More usage will be on those windows program especially to work on powerpoint.
Am also wondering whether to get clie sj30 or palm 515? Which is more user friendly?Heard that clie has many problems with sync.suppose that the pc should be vario, which makes sync operation easier. Is it true? And the palm also have several problems with it's screen.. this is going to b confusing.:
Thanks for relpy
