I'm confused ...and the info on the Palm site is not really clear or helpful. I have a Palm M505 which currently has Palm OS Software v. 4.0. I recently acquired (used) a Tungsten E ...unfortunately it did not come with the installation / setup disks. The Tungsten is running Palm OS Software v.5.2.1.
The Palm Desktop software on my PC is version 4.0.1
I would like to keep as much of my data as possible.
Which Palm Desktop software do I need to be using for the Tungsten E ...and how do I transfer my data to the Tungsten E? Can it really be as simple as plugging in my Tungsten E, and doing a hot-sync?

try going to palm's website and enter the following for the KB solution:
12926
failing that, just enter "upgrading from an old palm" in the search function in the support section of the palm site.

YES!!! Solution 12926 did the trick! Although the solution was the answer, I did not have the original install disk(s) as the solution required, so I downloaded the desktop/hotsync manager and burned it on a CD to use for the installation. And it worked just fine. However, I now require the two pieces of Palm software that allow me to manage photos, and play MP3's on my Tungsten E ...where can I get this software?
Thanks again, Pipesmoker, for your help.

you'll need to buy the cd from palm, or download some freeware / shareware version of a photo viewer or mp3 player

Thanks again. I've looked around for other versions of such programs ...and not had much luck. Any suggestions / links???
