Palm V Datebook - Current Date Incorrect

I find that if I don't HotSynch my Palm V every day the current date does not remain current, even if the device remains in its cradle. It apparently will not advance beyond the last synch date so when I open the Datebook the date displayed is often several days old (when I'm working from home I don't look at my Palm that often).

I've searched the Palm Knowledge Base and other forums and can't find an answer to this problem.
