m100 infrared port

I found a IrDA to USB adapter. The info about it says
Supports data rate at 2.4K-115.2Kbps(SIR mode), 576K-1.152Mbps(MIR mode) and 4Mbps(FIR mode)
so this could be faster than using the cable. Which of those modes can the m100 use?

I think you will find the normal cable connection is faster than IR but it is good to have a back-up means of synchronising.

The normal cable connection for a m100 is serial, which is likely slower than IR. I don't know for sure which IR mode the m100 uses, but I suspect it's SIR.
