Here are the different options... 1/ Wireless 802.11b which is a small range wireless network within a home or at some starbucks or if you live in NY city, you can get it at some parts of the city. The 80211b networks are usually FREE unless you're in starbucks. 2/ wireless through a cell phone. This will use your wireless web minutes but is at a speed of 19.2k max, usually anywhere 9.6kb - 14.4k. 3/ Wireless services that are truely wireless are expensive. First of all the wireless cards are anywhere from 200 - 300 dollars and the service is about $50/month. That's a little too rich for my taste _ig_ 12-05-2002, 12:47 AM You can buy a 802.11b wireless access point (11MBps) for roughly $100 and a DLink DCF-660W compactflash adapter for the Axim X5 for another $70. The access point will replace your current DSL or Cable modem unit. Several providers offer either DSL or cable modem internet access for around $50/month. There are new, more expensive wireless access points that will give you 22MBps, but bearing in mind that your internet access will be around 1.5MBps, the additional investment may not be justifyable unless you're building your own LAN at home to connect several computers.
