I tried to reset my iQue, first by doing a soft reset, then by a hard reset since I wanted to erase all data stored on the iQue.
I never got to the point where it asks "Erase all data ? yes, no".
A soft or hard reset makes the Palm logo appear, but still no green light or backlight. Once the logo appears, it slowly fades away... and it is dead.
What can I do ?

Hi Al007
It seems like an empty battery - try to charge the battery, then reset. You can also try to reset it while connected to the charger.
Good luck!

I tried. The green light is not even turning on when I connect it to the charger or cradle.

Uh, regretably, you need the following:
Product Support (http://www.garmin.com/contactUs/techSupport.jsp)
(for all Garmin products
except Apollo aircraft)
- Monday — Friday
- 8 a.m. — 5 p.m.
Central time (closed holidays)
- 1-800-800-1020
- 1-888-442-7646
or
- (913) 397-8200
- 0870-8501242 (within U.K.)
- +44-1794-519944 (outside U.K.)
Expect to be on hold for 20-30 minutes before they get to your call.
My guess is part of the battery charging system has packed it in.
I tried. The green light is not even turning on when I connect it to the charger or cradle.
Don't give up yet. I have had a few resets lately that were the same as what you described. (I think it was a conflict between Backupbuddy VSF and Pocket Tunes, which I deleted.) Put it in the charger for a while, then soft reset. This has worked for me, and I didn't even have to hard reset. Sometimes the battery gets so low (I think), that the green light doesn't come on and other odd things happen.

+1 for Nora. Can't hurt, might help, and it's the least expensive fix.:D

I let it sleep for a night, uncharged it completely, came back in the morning, and here she comes back to live again !
This is really some nice piece of junk !!
Thank you all guys for your advice !

Thank you all guys for your advice !Good job. Glad it worked. If this happens again, I think you have some sort of software conflict. That was the case for me.

I'm sure you're relieved. :D I'm guessing (a lot!!;)) but it seems the iQue 3600 is rather tempramental about static snaps. It could well be the processor was in some state that it couldn't come back from and letting the battery run flat ultimately cleared that by going to "no state at all".
Were your programs, etc. still there when Betty woke up again?

Glad it worked as well. Actually I contacted Garmin and they told me the Firmware had been erased and that I needed to send it back to them for RMA.

Speaking of static, what is everyone's experience with static and the iQue 3600 (and other models)? There's been times when as soon as I touch the iQue it does a soft reset. I can only assume it must be static. Usually, this happens when I reach for it on the car cradle. I still can't understand why the iQue seems so susceptible to static when other PDA's aren't. I've never had a PDA do a reset when touched. Are any of the other iQue models less susceptible?

I wish I'd known to try that before I returned my brand new Q to Garmin as a DOA unit - their Tech Support never even suggested letting it charge overnight - and I just assummed that no green charging light meant DOA. Probably cost me $15 in shipping and a weeks wait! arrrggghhh
