I am still trying to download songs onto my Ipaq H3765. I have gotten the songs onto my playlist, and they show up on my Ipaq, but when I go to Start, Windows Media Player, I get an error message that reads "cannot find windows media player or one of its components. make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available."
Then if I go to start, programs, file explorer, and click on "playlist", it says "the license for this file cannot be found. use windows media player on your pc to copy the file to your device again"
I know the songs transferred, because it showed that it had on my windows media player on my computer.
HELP!!!!!

O.K. , I went to microsoft and tried to download Media Player 7.1. It downloaded, but after I tried to install it, a message popped up that said that it could not be installed. Now what? I rebooted and tried it again, same thing. Help!

What is your ROM version? Mine is 3.0.11171 build 11178, 2.20.02 ENG, for example.

Please remember , I am a newbie.....lol I have no idea where to find the ROM version, or even what it is.
Also, I think I may have had the wrong version on my computer. I have windows 98, and it had version 9 on it. I deleted it, and downloaded the 7.1 again, and this time it accepted it. It is on my pc desktop, but will not go to my IPAQ. How do you suggest getting it there? I did a sync, but that didn't help. I see the song on my IPAQ that I sent there, but when I try to play it on my handheld, it says that it does not have a media player license, or something to that effect.
Any suggestions? and by the way.......Thanks!

Greetings;
Beckee your problem is that on your desktop media player you need to >tools>options and pick the CD Audio tab and remove the check mark next to Enable personal rights management, then click on apply. I have had that problem and this will fix it.

I am so frustrated. I paid $500.00 for this %*#@% iPAQ H3765, and still cannot get it to play music!! I have done everything you guys have suggested, but it will NOT work!
OK..........I have windows 98. Do I have the correct WMP? I now have 7.1. Could this be the problem?
Also......a MAJOR problem is that the WMP is NOT on my iPAQ. When I click on the WMP icon, it says "cannot find WMP or one of its components, make sure the path and filenam are correct and all the required libraries are available."
I am new at this.......please reply in laymans terms. I am about to throw this ^&$%# thing in the lake!!

Greetings;
I recieved your Pm Beckee and as Mighty Mouse says " here I am to save the day", Maybe. I will do that I can.
It looks like that WMP 7.1 is Ok for Win 98, that's what this link says. WMP download (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp)
If You do not have WMP on your iPAQ that would stop you from playing music. You would need to have it installed, it should have came installed on your iPAQ, if not I should be on the CD that came with it. If not goto the link above and get it from there.
Item next, did you transfer files to your iPAQ via the media player on your desktop?
Item last did you do what I posted earlier? If you do all this and don't uncheck that box it will allow you to transfer music but it won't let you play it.
Please let me know

Thanks Mighty Mouse!
OK, I'm going to get that CD out and reinstall it. At first WMP was on there, but for some reason, its not. I probably deleted it in my frustration, who knows? And yes, I did uncheck that box, so maybe I can get it to go. Stay tuned!!

I just upgraded my ROM to EUU 3 and it comes with Windows Media Player 8.5. Which plays all of my MP3 music. It is more stable than the previous version.

O.K.......I reinstalled the cd. Now, at least when I click on WMP on my iPAQ, it shows the songs I have downloaded under "local contents". It wasnt doing that before.....ah, progress! LOL
Except......even though it shows the songs, when I click on a song to play, it gives this message
"the license for this file cannot be found. Use WMP on your pc to copy the files to the device agan."
Now......how do I do that? Don't forget, I'm new, lol.
Even though it won't play my songs, it sure does belt out that WMP introduction !
From the message just before this one, maybe I need to re-install the WMP on my desktop to version 8. I think that is what is installed on my handheld.
HELP! (and thanks for your patience!)

Greetings;
It sounds like the main problem now is that the music you have on youe PDA wasn't copied to yourdesktop with out the Enable personal rights management not checked. You'll need to delete the music not copied that way and recopy it, then transfer it to your PDA.
I would try that before I reinstalled Media player.
