Okay, now that I've had a bit more time to familiarize myself with the workings of my iPaq h1940 there are naturally a few more questions cropping up.

1) Can't I stop the thing from turning on during charging? I can turn it off, but it'll just turn itself back on after 5 minutes, like a screen saver or something is active. There must be a way to disable that but I can't find it.

2) I'm finding that alarms don't always trigger, and that when they do, they don't always retrigger when "snooze" is hit. I read up on the "alarm bug" in WM2003, but that just deals with the unit not waking up to full power if the battery is low. Any fix for this one?

1>Make sure activesync is not set to use mobile schedule to sync.
Check in Inbox setup, there's a "Connect and check for messages every ..." uncheck it as well. And before turn it off, do a soft reset to make sure that all other applications are not running in the background.

2> You can apply this free fix

Or you will have to try 3rd party alarm software such as Superalert.

Ah-ha! Problem 1 solved; it was indeed waking up every 5 minutes to sync. (Palm can do this too but its default is not to and I've never set it otherwise, hence being caught a little out of sorts when the PPC defaulted to doing so) I reset it to "manual" 'cos there's no need to do it the other way, at least not at the moment.

Problem 2 isn't solved by the fixes -- at least not as far as I can tell; the "notifycheck" didn't pick up any duplicate entries in the system (yet) so there's no performance issue that I can tell.

Mind you this isn't a problem I can tell right away has been fixed, since it requires time to test. However it's been going off regularly for the past couple of days, and repeating after snooze pretty consistently so far, so maybe it was a temporary thing... time will tell.

Thanks!
