hi,

VersaMail syncs ok with outlook express but doesn't retrieve mail from my isp, it also doesn't delete mail on my pc when i delete them on my pda, even though i checked the option for this to happen.

with my old iiic everything worked perfectly it would connect & retrieve & send my mail, i have an always on internet connection.

to my knowledge the setup has been done correctly, i've double checked all the settings, am i missing something ?

thanks in advance

Andy

It sounds as if you don't have your network sttings set up on the Tungsten properly. I found setting up a bit fiddly after using MultiMail. You have to create a mail account on the Palm & then when setting up the conduit on the PC (having done a hot sync after setting up your account on the Palm) select that account to sync to the PC.
I find the program woks well, but the lack of a print manager is a great disappointment to me

thanks for the reply

i started from scratch & followed the instructions carefully, but although existing messages in outlook express are downloaded to my tungsten, the versamail conduit still doesn't download new messages from my isp to outlook express like the old mail application on os4.1 used to do

thanks in advance

Is the problem, then one where the mail conduit won't trigger Outlook express to collect e-mail from your ISP so you can then transfer e-mails to your palm?

If it is, I don't think the conduit can do this

yes it is,

the mail conduit on palm os 4.1 used to collect mail,

if versamail cant do this, it's a step backwards !

to get around the problem i just open outlook express first (which is set up to collect email when opened) & then i do a hotsync.

pity i cant use the mail application from os 4.1

thanks Andy

Agreed it does seem to be a backward step!

VersaMail looks slicker, but I don't think it matches the functionality of MultiMail. The lack of printing capability & poorer conduit are disappointing to say the least!
