If you are referring to usb memory stick, the kind that you can plug in usb port on the laptop or desktop, then Dell Axim cannot use it without addtional hardware such as

Axim does not have usb host capability.

If you are referring to cf or sd memory card, there is no limit at the present time, you just need to format it properly (ie. FAT32).

I was referring to SD cards. For some reason I thought there was some problem with 4GB sticks. Anyway thanks for the help.

Out of curiosity is there an adapter that works like this but plugs into a SD slot instead?
So I could hook up a portable USB flash drive to my Axim.
